3 Day Breast Cancer Walk: A Guide to the 3 Day Walk for Breast Cancer

Thanks to an ongoing and effective advertising campaign, people are increasingly more aware of the 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk – a national event that spans 3 days and seeks to raise both money for and awareness about breast cancer.

How the Event Works

Each participant in the event raises a minimum of $2,200 for breast cancer and the Susan G. Komen for the Cure and National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund – a fund dedicated to financing breast cancer research.

Participants then commit to walk just over 60 miles over three days – a magnificent feat that spans the nation and brings both breast cancer survivors and supporters together.

Requirements for Registration

To register for the 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk, you must be at least 16 years of age and minors under the age of 18 need to be accompanied by an adult supervisor. All participants must also commit to raise at least $2200, but have up to four weeks after the event to raise the money if they have been unable to do so by the event date.

All participants must also have proof of medical insurance to participate in the event. To participate, you must show proof either in advance or on the day of registration.

Sleeping and Walk Arrangements

Each night, participants may sleep at the 3-Day Camp, which includes sleeping tents, dining tents and shower and sink tents for cleaning up. All food and beverages are provided at the camp site, but participants must provide their own tent.

Your tent and supplies will be transported by the 3-Day organization and will arrive at the camp after you walk.

Tips on Raising Money

If you want to participate in the 3-Day Walk for Breast Cancer, you must raise a minimum of $2200 to cover both the cost of the event and fundraising. However, raising $2200 can be difficult.

Participants in the walk can go to the 3-Day website at http://the3day.org to find tools and tips on how to fund raise. The site also provides a website for each participant, so that donors can donate right online with their credit cards and have the amount applied directly to the participant's fundraising account.

According to the 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk, your best strategy is to widen your contact base – sending emails and phone calls to work mates, friends and family. Obtaining a $25 donation from 88 people may seem hard, but there are innovative ways – host a fundraising brunch or host a fundraising tea at your workplace. Remember, where there's a will, there's a way.
